Noisy coworkers are just another burden in the already over-stressed workplace. Just what we do not need! While there might be days when it seems that going ballistic on these courtesy-challenged people would feel great, or where we just want to run away for the afternoon, this is counterproductive to say the least . There are clearly more sensible and helpful ways to deal with these people.
This is exactly why you want to escape the nuisance of “noisy coworkers” as best you can. There are many ways to limit your exposure to these annoying sound polluters. Workplace environments vary, and in some places you are able to tune into your mp3s on headphones, or for ultimate peace and quiet, wear ear plugs.
One good way to de-stress, separate yourself from your noisy co-workers and break up your day is by taking a leisurely walk during your lunch break. The fresh air will be good for you and it will help your frame of mind. If this does not work, it might be a good idea to try bringing up the noise level in conversation.
Office noise can be one of the most stressful things in the work environment. This includes things like squeaking chairs, ringing phones, noisy ventilation systems, hallway traffic, copier machine noise, and neighborly chit chat. It is important for all us to have a private space where we can work without distractions and if we could all achieve this ideal the office would operate more smoothly and efficiently. Unfortunately the ideal is very hard to achieve in reality.
Annoying coworkers can be classified into two basic types. The first type is one who doesn’t realize that his or her behavior is bothering you. These types are easy to deal with; a short talk will usually take care of things. But then there are the ones we all dread: the ones who annoy you on purpose. These types are best to ignore or avoid. If this is not possible, then you could try dealing with them. This sometimes helps.
While it should only be used as a last resort, it is certainly appropriate to get the boss involved in dealing with an annoying coworker. After all, you have taken all appropriate means of dealing with the situation and nothing has worked! And the situation is affecting your job performance. Always keep in mind that it’s vital to maintain a professional attitude throughout the situation.
Noisy coworkers can drive anyone crazy. Some days the work just keeps piling up as the coworkers continue to be loud and distracting. Something else that can create a lot of stress at work is the simple “office noise“. If all else fails and you are unable to fix your problem with a “annoying coworker” it is possible you might have to go to the boss to solve the problem, this should only take place after the individual have already been asked once to stop their behavior which is causing interference with you doing your job.
