Ok, first of all let’s define what is a cori check any way: CORI stands for Criminal Offender Record Information. like ncic background check It contains a comprehensive account of all arraignments and convictions on criminal charges in the state of Massachusetts. You must know: No matter what the final outcome of the charge was if you had any arraigned in court on a criminal charge you in the cori!
Who is allowed to view the CORI? Most of employers are agreed to do CORI check on the people who applyies for the jobs. The employer asks the Massachusetts Criminal History Systems Board for a copy of the criminal record. How much do they get to see? The majority of employers can only review actual convictions and cases that remain open. An example of an exception is a nursing home. When that’s the case they can see the charges which they were not found guilty of. Public housing authorities are also allowed to see CORI, but they can only see convictions and open cases.
Are you allowed to review your own CORI? ok Requesting your own CORI, is a responsible and logical idea, especially if you’re unsure what the record contains. Once you have your CORI, you should review it for inaccuracies. If you think there are mistakes, you should contact the probation department of the court that handled the charges you think are wrong. Btw- There is a fee to the cori report, but if you cannot afford it, you can fill out an Affidavit of Indecency to have the fee waived.
Is a CORI report easy to understand? The original cori report is very hard to understand and you would need a professional help to understand it. It should be taken seriously so that you can really understand the information on your individual record. And you can also go to the website of CORI Massachusetts Background Reports and see the information on your report there. The data on that website is not hard to understand. Remember that although the data is updated every day it is not perfect as the original cori. In the cori check you can also check to see whether the convictions on your record are misdemeanors crimes of a less serious nature or felonies (more serious crimes).
